The story behind Dog Company

The story behind Easy Company is hardly the basis for any grand novel, but it should probably be included on this site.

It was in 2001, at the annual Genessee Country Museum reenactment that the idea for Easy Company was born. A few of the members, who were and still are active Civil War reenactors began discussing doing World War II Infantry on the side. The lack of an established unit in the Western New York area was a slight deterrant, but our passion was still in it. While interest was peaked, not much more was made of it until the following year.

In 2002, The current members of Easy Company began meeting at the SUV Hall in Lackawanna. At Sgt. Mullen's suggestion, we have taken upon ourselves the impression of 2nd Squad, 1st Platoon, Easy Company, 2/16th Infantry, 1st Division. Though we are a new unit, each of the current members brings something to the table.

In 2003, our unit first hit the field. Our first event was the American Soldier Timeline at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, NY. This was quickly followed by the HAG Airshow where our small unit first saw combat. All the members are greatly itching for the next chance at getting some "trigger time."

Easy Company is now going into it's third year. As of this addition to the "Our Story" page, we have just returned from a successful GAP event with 9 members in the field. We continue to grow as a unit and the experiences we share continue to solidify and expand our "Band of Brothers".

As of 2006, Easy company changed it's name to Dog Company, to seperate themselves from the HBO series on E Company, 506th PIR. Too many people think there was only one Easy Company, not realising that there is an E Company in every regiment.

We are a diverse group. We have Police and Firemen, Students, laborers, etc. We are a band of brothers. To experience this first hand, please see our contact page.
